In 1927, on a wet and muddy runway near New York City, Charles Lindbergh took
off towards Paris, France in a small single engine aircraft. Christened
the Spirit of St. Louis by its financial backers, the airplane had been
built in sixty stress filled days in San Diego, California and had been
designed by Donald Hall. Nearly 75 years later, Donald’s grandson
Nova Hall rediscovered a historical collection of photographs, artifacts,
and documents from the making of the Spirit of St. Louis. Discovered in
the family garage in the red rocks of Sedona, Arizona, Donald Hall’s
story of a forgotten time waited to be told.
The Mysterious Man Behind Lindbergh’s Flight to Paris is about an
unknown hero and the sixty day birth of an aviation legend which still hangs
in the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum. Presented thru stunning original
photography, this book conveys a sense of the risks and teamwork that were
required for success in a format that is accessible by both young and older
audiences.
